It is that time of the year again. Time for the Cape Town Carnival. Although I am not a huge fan of the big, messy crowds that goes along with it, I enjoy the dancing, costumes and music.
The Cape Town Carnival will be held, this Saturday the 24th, for the third time and this year it moves away from Long Street and into the Fanwalk, Somerset Street, and Green Point bringing together spectacular celebrations of art, music and dance. The Fanwalk will open with street performers at 5pm and the carnival parade will follow at 8pm.
The theme of this year's festival is Cape to Cairo and it will include 11 themed pods with 80 Lead performers in larger than life costumes, 9 decorated floats and 11 academies. About 2000 dancers will be part of the parade.
The parade will end with an after party at Fanwalk. The music will go on until the early hours of the morning and you can be sure that Cape Town will be filled with colours, singing and dancing this weekend.
Come celebrate South Africa's diversity and be part of the CTC2012!
