Casual Summer with G Star Raw and H&M

It's difficult to add variety and layers during the hot months of Summer. Layering an outfit adds depth, enhances dimension, and allows you to combine articles of clothing that usually wouldn’t go together on their own. But throwing on a sweater or a blazer to bring an outfit together during the hot months just isn't pragmatic.

An alternative to the typical shorts and t-shirt day outfit, or the denim and blazer night outfit, was the inspiration for this shoot. This outfit is comfortable enough for the day, but fits just as well for a sit-down dinner.

Went on a small getaway this past weekend to the coast. The weather was beautiful so I didn't have to bundle up like usual.

Some of you guys know I love to paint, but one of my other artistic outlets is designing tee-shirts. I've never really taken it seriously and have done a couple pieces here and there. Here is my latest design.

::Trench::

I shot this look awhile back, but never got around to posting it. We had about two weeks of heavy rain, so the trench came out for that period. When it’s cold and rainy, it’s sometimes difficult to dress for the cold and not soak up all that rain with a heavy coat.

The solution to this is the trench. You can throw it over whatever you’re wearing and not worry about matching it or it getting heavy in the rain. It’s an easy go to staple for the winter and transition from winter in to spring when it warms up, but still occasionally rains.

Like art, fashion comes best when it's organic. When putting an outfit together, too much planning is like not knowing when you're done seasoning a dish or when you've laid down your last brush stroke.

Start with a piece you like and then just grab random items to layer on top of it. I wanted to rock the polka dot sweater, but had no clue what to pair it with.
