WOLFTOWN is a female-fronted 3 piece rock band from Cape Town. They launched their first single "Settle Down" in 2012 with great success. The track was part of an EP release of three songs that were mastered in London by Kevin Metcalfe, who has worked with The White Stripes, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Police, U2 and more.



"Settle Down" played on 5fm (SA), featuring at #3 on Jon Savage's rock chart and received a 93% HOT public rating on the Fresh Drive Show.







 Their soon-to-be-launched debut album, "Soul on Fire" was recorded at Sound & Motion Studios and the first single off the album "Don't you know " was submitted to radio nationwide in June 2013. The track is currently featuring strongly on the Puk FM Red Bull Top 30 Chart and is playlisted on various stations nationwide.



"Soul on Fire" will be launched at The Harley Davidson Club, 46a Canterbury Street (Cnr Canterbury and Constitution Street) Cape Town. On Friday 26 July. The evening will start at 20h00 and entrance is R30.

On Friday evening Wolftown launched their single Don't you know at It's a House in De Waterkant. I've never seen them or the venue before, so it was a totally new experience for a change. I must admit, the place is quite something different. It is almost as if you struggle to put your finger on the atmosphere. Is this a more sophisticated bar where you find mostly hipsters hanging around in their high-waisted jeans and leather sling-bags? Or is this a laid-back venue where you can come watch live bands and drink? Nonetheless, we were there for Wolftown.



We were greeted by the friendly door-ladies, which handed us Woltown's single and a bar of Lindt chocolate (what a nice gesture!). Lexi Frame and Jae Braun opened for Wolftown as the crowd became a little bigger. The two opening acts were both very entertaining and I think they set the mood just right for Wolftown's set. Although they are both very young and raw artists, I think there is definitely room for them to grow in the industry.






Wolftown was up next. It was a short set from the three-piece Cape Town band, but a very neat and rounded performance. It was almost as if they've played the set a million times before - They are quite self-assured and comfortable on stage. They seem to know and feel each other very well, which I think a lot of well-known, more mature bands still struggle with.








There is something dark about Wolftown's music, almost as if they come from a rather rebellious background. As I sat on the couch, I wondered what it would be like to see them in a different environment, a more relaxed, underground space. I feel like this is the kind of music where you must stand up and dance to the loud guitars and Sarah Pope's powerful and striking vocals.



Look out for their debut album coming in July. Judging by the single, this might just be a very impressive piece of work! I enjoyed the performance and although it is not my favourite type of
music, I would love to see where the road takes this talented band. Well
done guys!
