It is Wednesday, that means two more days before the weekend. And to make you even more excited, here is my list of cool things to do this weekend.




That Circus Show at Zula Bar

This
Friday evening Zula Sound Bar in Cape Town will be hosting their regular circus of a party featuring
dancers, top musicians, a belly-dancer, burlesque and other cirque performers. Doors open at 10pm and
tickets cost R30 per person.




Winter Wine Festival Durbanville

The 8th Winter Wine Festival at High Street
Shopping Village in Durbanville takes place from Thursday, 21 June to
Saturday, 23 June and offers visitors a selection of wines to taste and
buy, hand-made food items and fresh produce, two food courts, live music
and free access to the wine theatre presented by The Cape Wine Academy. Cost: R80 online | R90 at the door




BIG TOP ROCK TYGERVALLEY

Showing at the Barnyard Theatre in Tygervalley, this action-packed show
combines gravity-defying circus acts with the top rock music of the last
six decades like ACDC, U2 and Prince. This weekend sees the musical’s
run come to an end, so be sure to get in there before it’s too late on
Friday or Saturday evening at 8pm (R120 per person) or Sunday at 2pm (R80 per person).




Neighbourgoods Market  373-375 Albert Road Woodstock:
The Neighbourgoods Market is a real treat, stocking over 100 speciality traders including fine food,
wine and local farmers. There are plenty of breads, cheeses, sweet treats and
wines for you to sample here. This is one of the best markets in Town. Be sure to go there this weekend, for excellent food!




FIGHT NIGHT

Head down to Dragon
Power Studios on Saturday evening to witness muay Thai champions Jarred ‘Rotweiler’ Rothwell and
Ceeh ‘Croco Croco’ Khuboni take each other on in the ring. There will also be a few other fighters battling it out in the ring. Other entertainment, including drummer
dancers and marimba bands, will also be on offer. Ticket prices range
between R70 (under 13-year-old standing) and R350 (front row).

March is a different kind of month. Yes, I must say, apart from the weather playing tricks, you can feel something different in the air. It is almost as if people are settling again, relaxing, the season is over...Blah. But this means that there is now more space in Cape Town for us to party harder! Here is my top 5 things to do this weekend:



1. Infecting The City 2012Watch out for this public festival that will see Cape Town transformed by various art and performing art works. The festival started on Wednesday and will go on until tomorrow. See some fantastic talent while exploring the city. The best part? It is absolutely free! Go to their website for the complete schedule.



2. Stellenbosch Woordfees 2012

This is one of South Africa's best arts festivals. Don't go here if you are just in it for the party. With plenty to see and do, this is one of your more sophisticated festivals. Here you will see some of the best plays and art, not to mention the music and books. Stellenbosch is just 45 minutes outside of Cape Town - so go check out all art madness.



3. Hout Bay Sancastle Competition

Make sure you get to Hout Bay beach early on Saturday! Secure your spot in this extreme sandcastle competition. Spend the day playing on the beach trying to build the most impressive castle or just browse through other people's artwork.



4.  Ramfest 2012

This outdoor music festival is now only one day!! But one day of extremely awesome music. Held on the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch, just 30 minutes out of Cape Town, you will get the change to experience In Flames, Infected Mushroom plus The Narrow, Taxi Violence and Fokofpolisiekar.



5. Saturday Markets

I know of at least two VERY cool markets on a Saturday. And yip, there is definitely more! Just google "Cape Town Markets" and you will find everything you need. Or too lazy to search? Just pop down to the City Bowl Market on Hope Street. It's where the cool kids say they hang...



So have a happy weekend and don't let these events pass you by! Just take a big bite out of life...
