It is that time of the year again, the so-called "month of love". So what is there to do in Cape Town on this...day of madness? Most of us don't want to spend our whole salary on an expensive, 2 course dinner, with food that we can't even pronounce. Or worse: book yourself and your partner in at the spa, only to find that EVERYONE had the same idea.



So, here is my top 5 list of really sweet, fun things to do on Valentine's:



1. Chocolate-tastings.

Where: Waterford Wine Estate.

When: Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm and on Saturdays, between 11am and 3pm.

3. Beach or forest picnics.

Where: Camps Bay, Clifton, Signal Hill, Chapmans Peak, Kirstenbosch and other wine-farms

Cost: I think you can easily get away with R200 worth of food



4. A night at the theatre!

Where: Artscape, Baxter, The Bay, Athol Fugard etc.

Cost: Anything from R80 pp



5. Stay at home, cook food for your lady, give her a message and spoil her with chocolates and a candle-lit bathtub!

Cost: Priceless.
